First Look: Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

It looks promising! Is Lara wearing the ‘fro? Anyway, here’s the quote from WWD: “After two campaigns featuring pop priestess Madonna, Louis Vuitton has gone all New Age in its spring-summer fashion advertising, complete with white doves, ferns and voluptuous model Lara Stone lounging seductively on the grass.

“After two seasons with such a huge star, [artistic director] Marc [Jacobs] decided to take a breather and work with a model — and not just any model. It’s the choice of a new supermodel,” said Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s communication director, as he unveiled a campaign slated to break in February fashion titles. “She clearly has a Brigitte Bardot look.”

He described the six visuals as fresh, summery, whimsical, young and optimistic — and hopefully coinciding with brighter economic times.

It’s the third Vuitton campaign lensed by Steven Meisel, who constructed an outdoorsy set in a New York studio, planting a series of Vuitton handbags in the moss next to Stone and the birds. The first spots highlight the Artsy, an unstructured shoulder bag in Monogram canvas, followed by runway styles in sun-bleached denim, some dangling fox-fur charms.”

“After our successful collaboration with Madonna, we are very happy to be working once again with Steven Meisel on the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 fashion campaign,” says Artistic Director Marc Jacobs. “Because the collection loosely took its cues from the idea of the New Age traveler, we decided to create a green, outdoorsy set that would evoke a spirit of peace and love. To model the clothes, we wanted a modern, iconic, sexy beauty… It had to be Lara Stone.”

In the six visuals, model-of-the-moment Lara Stone is pictured in a series of Bardot-esque poses on a bed of moss and ferns, surrounded by white doves. The cool, fresh background throws into relief the vivid colors of Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection and its array of standout accessories, including metallic Monogram canvas and sun-bleached Monogram denim bags, furry foxtail charms, hardware-inspired jewelry and wooden clogs embellished with rustic tufts of fur.

“It was a wonderful shoot,” continues Marc Jacobs. “Doves were flying, the atmosphere was sexy and magical, and the result is a set of images that are desirable, colorful, whimsical and, of course, luxurious.”

Antoine Arnault, Head of Communications for Louis Vuitton, comments: “This is a very strong campaign, reflecting the vibrant, optimistic mood of the Spring/Summer 2010 show. Louis Vuitton has lined up an exclusive collection in launching its latest Maison at One Central Macau, the new premium shopping address of the entertainment and leisure travel enclave.

The opening of One Central Maison also features an exceptional selection of Louis Vuitton’s watches and jewellery. Taking the lead is an exclusive version of the brand’s iconic Lovely Cup model – Tambour Large Chronograph Lovely Cup with Blue Sapphires. This large size limited version has its horns paved with approximately 40 blue sapphires and 12 on its flange. The combination of blue sapphires and white mother of pearl dial makes it sporty yet luxurious and remains a strong reference to the brand’s link to nautical sports.

A new collection to inaugurate the opening is Louis Vuitton’s Tambour V timepieces. Watches are available in pink-gold or pink-gold with diamond construction with a lacquered dial face inspired by the V logo of the House’s historical Steamer Bag. The most glamorous is the full-paved automatic edition whose white lacquer V is sublimed by 1,019 top diamonds weighing 7.85 carats.

Making a grand entrance is Baby Ardentes, the House’s latest additions to the Les Ardentes jewellery collection. The unique and symbolic LV Flower- and Star-cut diamonds take the centre stage of eight designs of necklace and pendant, bracelet, rings and earrings. These graphic and poetic shapes are chiseled in white gold and set with brilliant diamonds. Overshadowing a round brilliant with 58 facets, the two extraordinary LV cut diamonds in 65 to 77 facets magnify the sparkle of these jeweled creations.

An elegant, easy to wear limited Empreinte Pink Gold Pendant with a diamond will also be launched to celebrate the auspicious opening. Louis Vuitton’s iconic pendant is available in pink gold for the first time. Its skeletonised flower motif at the heart and nail imprints represent strong reference to Louis Vuitton’s traditions.

Named after the Sanskrit word for black, the soft and sumptuous Pochette Kali from Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2010 collection is an incredibly elegant clutch, a perfect accessory to any chic event. Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Flocon Coin Purse

In the spirit of the holiday season, Louis Vuitton has released a beautiful line of coin purses in a delicate snowflake shape embossed with small snowflake patterns with LV monogram and flowers. These charming coin purses comes in two snowflake designs, its a great accessory for the holidays and also makes a great seasonal gift.

Each of the Flocon Coin Purses comes with a silvery brass chain that has two charms (snowflake with Swarovski strass and LV monogram) and hook for attaching to a D-ring. It measures 4.3″ x 3.7″ x 0.8″, large enough to carry coins and business or credit cards.

New Vernis Colors for Spring 2010

For Spring 2010, Louis Vuitton will be releasing three new Vernis colors which were inspired by art movements through the ages: Rose Florentin, Vert Impression, and Gris Art Deco. These new colors are softer in comparison to the loud, pop colors of Spring 2009 and will be seen in bags, wallets and small leather goods, and shoes starting January 1, 2010.

Inspired by the Renaissance, a cultural movement that started in Florence, the Rose Florentin is a lovely shade of pale pastel pink which exudes softness and femininity. Its great for pink lovers and those who find Rose Pop a bit too shocking. Available from January to November 2010.

If Vert Tonic was on steroids, Vert Impression is its sober counterpart. This calm greenish yellow color took its name from Impressionism, an art movement that seeks to capture a feeling rather than accurate depiction. Available from January to May 2010.

This steely tranquil gray color inspired by Art Deco of the 1920s exhibits an elegant and glamorous appeal perfect for the evening. This color beautifully compliments the golden brass hardware of the pieces. Really chic! Available from January to November 2010.
